    Helios HR is excited to partner with our client, an award winning, Small Business Administration (SBA) certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) company and certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) providing engineering, analytical, and programmatic expertise to the Federal Government,  in their search for a Director of Accounting.  This position will direct and manage all aspects of corporate financial operations. 

     

    The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, payroll, and proposal pricing.  This is a highly visible position. It will report into the President of the company and will require a candidate that can support a high ops tempo.  Absolute integrity and confidentiality is a critical component of this role.  This is a full-time salaried position and will operate from our client’s corporate headquarters based in Alexandria, VA.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and ensures implementation of goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods and controls in his/her areas of responsibility
    • Directs the general accounting activities, including maintenance of general ledgers, analysis of financial reports, and review or payroll and 401K records
    • Directs development, compilation, and reporting of monthly, and annual financial statements
    • Leads preparation of corporate budget, coordinating inputs from all departments
    • Develops and maintains internal control systems and establishes internal audit and financial related corporate compliance policies and procedures
    • Forecasts cash flows and maintains cash management and working capital controls, including management of idle funds, short term financing, and timely payment of obligations
    • Forecasts revenue, expenditures, and year-end balances on the accrual basis of accounting
    • Coordinates with external auditors to support financials reviews, tax preparation, and bank covenant compliance
    • Develops pricing inputs for proposals
    • Must be able to manage multiple and competing requirements with efficiency, attention to prioritization, detail orientation, and execution
    • Prioritizes and carries out special projects and complex assignments as needed, exercising frequent independent judgement and initiative

    Qualifications

    • Requires 7+ years of accounting experience
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Familiarity with Government Contracting, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and GAAP are required
    • CPA preferred
    • Experience with Unanet cost accounting system preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
    • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a commitment to completion of project on a timely basis
    • Must have strong problem-solving skills with an ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues
    • Must be proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
