    Helios HR is excited to partner with our client, a fast growing and award-winning systems engineering company, in their search for a Director of Human Resources.  The position will be responsible for organizing, planning, and developing the implementation and administration of human resources functions and carrying out policies and procedures related to all phases of human resources activities.


    The candidate will also oversee activities related to human resources’ rules and regulations, staffing, employee education and training, management development, affirmative action, workers compensation administration, benefits administration, and salary administration.  This is a highly visible position. It will report into the CEO and President and has the overall responsibility for developing and implementing a human resources strategy.  This strategy should focused on building a culture aligned with, and supportive of the business objectives and vision of the company.  The Director of Human Resources role is a full-time salaried position and will operate from our client’s corporate headquarters based in Alexandria, VA.

    • Develops and manages key culture initiatives such as leadership development, talent/performance management, change management, workforce and succession planning, talent acquisition, employee and career development, performance management, rewards and recognition and coaching
    • Maintains knowledge of industry trends to ensure company maintains competitive hiring and benefits practices
    • Leads the talent acquisition and the onboarding strategy, interviewing for each open position and identifying effective sources. Builds recruiting brand and value proposition. Efficiently and effectively assists in filling open positions
    • Conducts organizational assessments and develops/drives initiatives to close gaps and implement necessary solutions to ensure a high-performing workforce; provide candid and constructive feedback to leaders about talent moves, gaps, promotions and growth opportunities
    • Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the company’s policies, procedures, information systems and practices on human capital matters
    • Develops organization strategies by identifying and researching human capital issues
    • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values
    • Develops and ensures implementation of goals, projects, policies, procedures, methods and controls in his/her areas of responsibility
    • Must be able to manage multiple and competing requirements with efficiency, attention to prioritization, detail orientation, and execution


    • Requires 7+ years of human resources experience
    • Familiarity with Government Contracting required
    • Experience running talent acquisition in highly competitive markets
    • Master’s Degree preferred or 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree
    • Knowledgeable and capable of performing both operational HR (day-to-day) and strategic HR (implementing process, policy, and systems)
    • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a commitment to completion of project on a timely basis
    • Strategic Workforce Planner Certified, preferred
    • Certified HR Practitioner (or other relevant SHRM Certification), preferred
    • Must be proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
