Overview

Helios HR is currently seeking a Training and Development Manager for our client in Landover, MD.

 

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Training and Development Manager will be responsible for improving the productivity of employees by assessesing companywide development needs and arranging suitable training solutions. This will involve actively searching, creatively designing, and implementing effective methods to educate employees as well as enhance and recognize their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts annual training and development needs assessment.
  • Creates training and development programs and objectives.
  • Formulates teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, workshops and online.
  • Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
  • Develops and conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as onboarding, on-the-job, annual, and refresher compliance and safety training, etc.
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works. 
  • Identifies internal subject matter experts and conducts train the trainer programs. 
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others in employee development efforts.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates and orders supplies for employee development and training events.
  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
  • Conducts follow up studies of all completed training and evaluate and measure results.
  • Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Reports on progress of training programs and employee completion,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Education or another complementary field
  • At least 3 years of training and development experience required
  • Experience with e-learning development tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS) required
  • Intermediate level skill using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point required
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or other training certification preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25% required

Best qualified candidates will have excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to build relationships and collaborate with individuals throughout the organization.  This individual should also be able to quickly learn technology and systems.
