    Helios HR is pleased to be partnering with a well-established engineering services firm in their search for a Vice President of Human Resources (VP of HR).  This organization provides support to the Department of Defense and other customers focused on national security.  They are dedicated to customer satisfaction and deeply committed to employees. 


    Reporting to the CEO, the VP of HR will plan, execute and evaluate human capital programs in support of business objectives.  This will include developing, implementing and managing talent acquisition, employee engagement, compensation, benefits, performance management, HR systems and analytics, employee relations, succession planning, compliance, and learning & development initiatives.


    This strategic HR leader will coach and develop leadership, share market trends and forecasts, and serve as a thought leader as they partner with leadership in the execution of growth strategies.


    The VP of HR will advise the CEO on all human capital matters affecting the company.  The individual in this role will:

    • Mentor and develop a team of HR professionals in various areas of HR specialty; provide substantive technical advice and knowledge to support the development of team members.
    • Collaborate with the team to develop future resourcing strategies supportive of growth goals into new markets.
    • Develop and administer human resource policies and procedures; ensure adherence to federal and state laws and regulations.
    • Gather, report and track human capital trends; monitor in comparison to market benchmarks.
    • Ensure the integrity of data in the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
    • Collaborate with managers within the organization to ensure effective recruiting and retention strategies, including those related to new business capture to support growth goals.
    • Develop and manage a growth-focused total rewards program that attracts and retains employees; advise/support the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors as requested.
    • Provide leadership and consulting support to the management team on matters of goal setting, policy development and strategic planning.
    • Develop and administer affirmative action programs including annual filings, data collection/record keeping, and preparation of plans in compliance with EEO/OFCCP regulations.
    • Provide leadership in resolving grievances and workplace disputes that may lead to legal issues; participate as appropriate in coaching and disciplining employees.


    • Bachelor’s Degree required; Human Resources or related field preferred; Master’s preferred.
    • 15+ years of HR experience with demonstrated competence in several HR functional areas.
    • Proven experience successfully leading and directing a team of HR professionals.
    • Prior VP or director-level experience with a government services firm with annual revenues in excess of $200 million and more than 1,000 employees.
    • Experience designing and implementing annual and long-term incentive compensation programs.
    • Direct experience implementing and managing an enterprise Human Resources Management System (HRMS).
    • HR certification highly preferred. 

    This individual must be: 

    • Knowledgeable of regulations, industry trends, best practices and applicable laws regarding human resources.
    • Adept at handling sensitive employee relations matters.
    • Confident and decisive, possessing a strategic focus as well as an operational and detail-oriented perspective.
    • Articulate, with strong communication skills; able to relate to people at all levels of the organization.
    • Skilled in analytical thinking and problem solving.
    • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.


    Desired Skills & Abilities:

    • Familiarity/experience with ESOP administration and compliance.
    • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and post-acquisition integration.
    • Top Secret clearance desired.
